I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self.
-Aristotle
We are our own worst enemy but we are also our own best ally. The key to determining how we show up for ourselves lies in our ability to tell the truth - to ourselves. I have dedicated myself to telling the truth to myself, and it is changing my life.
This month we focused on problem solving in my private coaching group. Working through the topic allowed me to formulate a 4 step process:
Recognize
Reframe & Rewrite
Responsibility
Resolve
If you want to address issues you face, you can’t leave the solution up to chance. This process, which I have deemed the “4 R’s for solving problems” is powerful and can be used in just about every area of your life. Join us in my Locals group to learn more.
Daily Truth
You get fit the same way you got fat. Slowly, day by day, one step at a time.
Your intentions determine your experiences. Set intentions each and every day.
This week’s read
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Well goodness I have no idea what I was thinking when I took this on! So much for easy, brainless summer reading;) This book went on my list because of one single line: “Every one is really responsible to all men for all men and for everything.” As I am writing my book, I come up against the difficult task of describing how each of us has an impact on the lives of countless others. How each of the decisions we make leave rippling effects for ages to come. To encourage others to conduct their lives in such a way that recognizes how much each of us matters. You Matter: to everyone yet to no one is the title of my book and The Brothers Karamazov is proving to be an invaluable tool in helping me think and write.
Should you read it? Depends on how interested you are in finding the deep meaning of life through Russian literature. It isn’t a task for the faint of heart but it is life changing if you tackle it. There are guide books to help you decipher it which are useful. Or, if you’d rather have easier reading, modern day relatable lessons, just wait to read my book instead!
I give it 4 dog ears because of the readability being so difficult.
EAT Better
In celebration of the upcoming 4th of July holiday, I’ve prepared a menu for you to enjoy all the yummy food without the inflammatory ingredients. Eating delicious food can be healthy-ish. Like these fudgy, flourless brownies!
Enjoy!
Thank you for reading,
Evie
