The ancient Mesopotamians believed the flat earth was covered with a dome, in which the sky, the sun, the moon and the starts were contained. To be more precise, they actually believed there were as many as seven domes covering the earth but I won’t turn this into a lesson of ancient religions. Instead, I will use this analogy to make clear how little us humans really know about the world in which we inhabit. And how certain every generation of man throughout history thought they were about what they thought they knew. Sure, we no longer believe the earth is flat and we are walking around in a terrarium type contraption, with the Gods able to pluck us out of the top like a lizard being whisked out of its habitat. But we don’t know much at all. Although we think we do - which I would argue is making us so miserable.
