I keep the card in this photo readily available in my office. My daughter made it for me when she was in about the 2nd grade. The list of words she used to describe me are humbling, to say the very least. Some, quite honestly, I’m not sure I am worthy of or have earned.
This card keeps me honest. It helps me stay accountable to who I can be. If these are the traits a 2nd grader can see in me, chances are they are honest and authentic because at that age, kids haven’t yet been jaded by the realities of life. They see the beauty in everything, including others.
We could all stand to take a look at ourselves through the eyes of a child. There is so much there that is easily forgotten.
