If you need to hide away from the world to find peace, you’re never going to find it.
In my daily meditation this morning, this passage came up…
“…reminding you that serenity and stability are results of your choices and judgement, not your environment.”
I had to think and write on this one a bit, as I am a firm believer in creating a peaceful space around me. You will almost always find fresh flowers in nearly every room of my home, pristine organization in my offices and absolutely no clutter, anywhere.
When I wake up each day, I sit quietly with my coffee, two daily readers, my prayer journal and a guided meditation in hand to set the tone of my day.
I don’t read current propaganda articles on my phone and I don’t turn on the news. In fact, I haven’t watched a single news broadcast in four months. Amazingly, I still know what is going on in the world;)
Overall, I take great care to create peace in my life. I start my day this way because I know once I go out into the world, people will piss me off and I will rant about how I cannot wait until the day I move to a remote, undisclosed location and leave all these stupid fuckers behind.
The world is full of crazy, inconsiderate, misinformed, malevolent characters. Group thinkers who want to impose their will upon you; politicians who are using you to further their agenda; people trying to strip others of their livilihood because they won’t inject themselves with a vaccine which we now know with certainty isn’t doing what it was developed to do and those promoting it aren’t telling us the truth. We have people on the “far left” trying to label us all based upon our race or gender and people on the “far right” beating their chests about how right they were about everything all along. Conflict and division are being force fed to us, all in the name of unifying us as Americans. All of it is enough to make us all isolate and remove ourselves from the outside world altogether.
That’s not the answer. We are a community of humans, required to live in peace amongst one another in order for our specifies to survive. End of story.
There are too many variables we cannot control in the world but hiding from it isn’t the solution. Taking responsibility for oursleves is how we find peace. Working towards achieving peace within yourself is the only thing you can control. Peace within allows you to interact with the world at large and actually make a difference.
Stop trying to change the world and start working on changing yourself. Peace can only be found within.
